Terms & Conditions

A Doula’s Role Does Not Include:

  • Performing clinical or medical procedures (e.g., checking blood pressure, fetal heart monitoring, vaginal exams).

  • Diagnosing or prescribing medical treatment.

  • Making decisions for you—I support you in making informed choices.

  • Speaking to medical staff on your behalf. I’ll support and guide you, but all medical discussions and decisions are between you and your care providers.

  • Guaranteeing a specific birth outcome. Every birth is unique and can be unpredictable; my role is to walk beside you through it, however it unfolds.

Conditions of Service:

  • Please contact me at the earliest signs of labour (e.g., contractions, waters breaking), even if you don’t yet need me physically present. This allows me to prepare, arrange childcare, and be on standby.

  • When you are ready for in-person support, you or your birth partner must call me directly. From the time you ask me to come, please allow a full hour for me to make arrangements and travel to you. This is essential for me to provide consistent, reliable support.

  • If your labour progresses so quickly that your baby is born before I arrive, this is considered a fast birth. In this case, the full fee remains non-refundable, as I was on-call, committed, and prepared to attend. I will still come to provide postpartum support if appropriate and welcomed.

  • If labour extends beyond 14 hours, I may require a rest break of up to 8 hours. This will be discussed with you or your support person at the time.

  • In the unlikely event I am unable to attend due to personal emergency or illness, I will arrange a trusted backup doula to support you. Your fee remains the same, and I will coordinate this directly.

  • If you are choosing a freebirth (without a registered midwife or medical provider present), you acknowledge that my presence does not replace clinical care, and you accept full responsibility for all outcomes.

Payment:

  • A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your place in my calendar.

  • The remaining balance is due by 36 weeks gestation.

  • Payments are non-refundable. Please reach out if you need a payment plan—I’m always happy to work with you.

  • If I am called in and leave to attend your birth, and the birth occurs so rapidly that I do not arrive in time, this is still considered a fast birth and the full service fee applies.

  • All fees are in Australian Dollars (AUD).

  • Each package includes a 30-minute round trip for travel. Additional travel time is charged at $40 per hour (or part thereof).

  • Doula services are not currently eligible for Medicare or private health rebates.

Cancellation:

  • Once your booking form is submitted and the first payment is made, your spot is held exclusively for you. I only take a very limited number of births per month to ensure personalised support, so your booking holds significant value.

  • All payments made are non-refundable, including in the event of cancellation for any reason (change of mind, early birth, relocation, etc.).

  • If you choose to cancel before labour begins, no further payments will be required, but any payments already made will not be refunded.

  • If you are having a fast labour and baby is born before I arrive — despite your best efforts to contact me in time — this is a natural and rare part of birth. The full fee still applies.

  • If, due to personal emergency or illness, I am unable to attend your birth, a trusted and experienced backup doula will be offered (if available). In this case, you will have the choice to:

  • Accept the backup doula and continue with the service as planned

  • Decline the backup and receive a partial refund for the birth component only, at my discretion

  • If you go into labour and do not call me or do not provide enough notice for me to arrive, the full fee still applies. Please ensure you notify me as early as possible.

Postpartum Invoicing:

At around 6 weeks postpartum, you may receive a separate invoice for any out-of-pocket expenses, such as:

  • Hospital or birth centre parking (if I drive to your birth).

  • Taxi or Uber fare home (if I travelled in your vehicle).

  • Travel time beyond the included 30-minute round trip.

  • Groceries or supplies purchased for you at your request.
